Procedure for flashing/updating Xpc BIOS
There are 2 methods available for updating/flashing BIOS for XPC only.
 
1. BIOS can be updated / flashed by using WinFlash utility from Award. This utility is to perform BIOS updating under the Windows environment. Please find the WinFlash from Mainboard CD or download it from http://www.gemma.co.uk/bios/winflash.zip
 
2. BIOS can also be updated/ flashed under PURE DOS mode.  Before BIOS update take place, download BIOS utility program from http://www.gemma.co.uk/bios/awdflash.exe
S ave awdflash.exe and bin file into a bootable floppy disk or into hard drive. Start the system with the same bootable floppy disk you saved the above files in, or boot your system with a bootable CD into PURE DOS mode. insert the floppy in drive A, when DOS prompt, type:
 
awdflash fx41s026.bin
 

After finish updating, restart your system
Press [Delete] key to enter CMOS Setup Utility (BIOS setting).
Select [Load Optimized Defaults]" and then
[Press F10 on your keyboard or select
Save & Exit BIOS Setup.

XPC SN41G2V2 motherboard (FN41 V3.1) BIOS update

Summary
This motherboard BIOS update resolves a potential issue that may affect users that set Vcore to 2.7V. Users may experience a hardware failure after a hard system reset or system crash (ie a system event that results in a default to “safe mode” operation).
 
Please note that if your XPC SN41G2 (v2.0 or higher) has already experienced a failure of this kind, applying this BIOS update will NOT be helpful. You must RMA the product.
 
Before attempting to apply this BIOS update, you MUST first clear the CMOS:
  1. Shut down your system.
  2. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the XPC.
  3. Open the case then clear the CMOS (Move JP1 jumper from pin1-2 to pin2-3.  After 10 seconds reset the jumper back to pin1-2).
  4. Replace the case cover and reattach the power cord.  Boot the system.

Shuttle XPCs support AMD Athlon 64 X2 processors
BIOS update enables dual core CPU support Shuttle Inc - the leading manufacturer of small form factor (SFF) PCs and accessories - has released updated BIOS files which will enable many of its AMD socket 939 based Shuttle XPCs to support Athlon 64 X2 (dual core) processors launched early last week.

Athlon 64 X2 dual core processors are aimed at digital content creators, high-end business users, and prosumers wanting to maximize productivity, increase multitasking and access more processing power.

Once the BIOS update is complete, existing AMD Socket 939 based Shuttle XPCs will be able to support Athlon 64 X2 dual core processors without the need for any other hardware modifications.

Naturally, after the BIOS upgrade the Shuttle XPCs will still support single core processors as they did before.

 Please make sure the motherboard version before you download.
You can check the PCB version on motherboard or System ID on the back of XPC.

If the PCB is 1.X or System ID's 5th digit is 1, please download the BIOS from SN95G5 (FN95V1.x) link.
